Living In Rochester?
For many years Rochester was a favourite destination of Charles Dickens, who owned the nearby Gads Hill Place, Higham, and based many of his novels on the area. The Dickens festival and The Sweeps festival occur every year bringing in people from as far as France for the day. Rochester Castle and Cathedral are also hugely popular with tourists.
Local Area Of Rochester
Rochester is very quirky and idiosyncratic. Part of the appeal is the unique boutiques that cater for anything from Wedding dresses to cabinet makers. There are not really any large fast food chains on the high street so there are a lot sole traders who offer fine dining from Thai to Italian.
Transport In Rochester
Both the A2 and M2 link to London and coastal bound motorways. The High Speed train link to London is great for commuters, who can get to the city within 40 minutes, as well as the slower train to Victoria which will arrive in under an hour.
