WARD & PARTNERS HELP RAISE £40,000 WITH A “ROUND THE WORLD CHARITY CYCLE RIDE”

Staff in all 43 Ward & Partners offices across  Kent - together with colleagues in the firm’s parent company, the Arun Estates Group - spent much of 2016 taking their turn to peddle away for all they were worth in a gruelling round-the-world charity cycle ride – without ever leaving the  UK!

Starting way back in March and finishing shortly before Christmas, the epic journey was a “virtual” one, employing a number of static bikes which were transported from office to office across the Ward & Partners network and the rest of Arun. The imaginary itinerary was planned to take in as many different countries as possible, including most of Europe as well as parts of the Middle East,India,Thailand,Singapore, Australasia, the USA and back to Europea again.

In all, a staggering total of 23,735 miles were clocked up and almost £40,000 was raised for a number of national and local children’s charities - including Ellenor, which helps provide support and care for families acrossKentdealing with terminal illness.

The virtual cycle ride brought the grand total raised in 2016 for their chosen charities by Ward & Partners and its sister companies to £95,558. The balance was raised through a host of events organised during the course of the year by individual branches and members of staff, ranging from a very muddy assault course, an endurance go-karting event and a football tournament to a comedy evening.

Commenting, Group Managing Director David Lench, who is based at Ward & Partners’ offices in Faversham, said: “Charity fundraising is closely bound up with everything we do. Major initiatives like this virtual bike ride are obviously very important in this regard - as well as being a lot of fun and a great way to foster the team spirit which is so important to our business. However, we take great pride in the fact that over the year as a whole, the bulk of the money we raise actually comes from the host of small events organised at grass roots level by our branches and even by individual members of staff. A week hardly goes by without someone in Ward & Partners or elsewhere in the group organising a quiz night, a car wash, or a cake sale in aid of charity!”
