Birchington dates back many centuries as a small farming village but made its name as a popular coastal resort in Victorian times. One of its most important historic buildings is Quex House, a 19th-century property built on the original site of an old Tudor manor. Today it’s a popular visitor destination showcasing an impressive array of memorabilia amassed by the Powell-Cotton family, who lived at Quex House until the early 20th century.
