A short history of Chatham

Chatham can trace its history as a royal dockyard back to Tudor times, and it was once a vital naval and defence site. The docks closed for good in 1984 and while some of the area has been repurposed for housing, other parts remain preserved as part of Chatham Historic Dockyard. This popular visitor attraction hosts events and activities all year round.
