Why families love Deal

Deal offers so much for families  – and one of the best things about the town is the fantastic choice of schools in the local area. Sandown and Northbourne primary schools are both well-regarded for younger kids, while Sir Roger Manwood’s Grammar and Sandwich Technology School are both close by for pupils aged 11 and over.

A short history of Deal

Deal’s status as an important shipping port dates back to the 13th century, although there is evidence of people living in the area since Roman times. Despite not having its own harbour, Deal’s location where the Channel meets the North Sea made it a useful stopping point for ships of all sizes. Once an essential site for defence, Deal still has two of its three Tudor castles, designed as artillery forts to protect the coast against invasion.
