Getting around in Larkfield

There are five train stations close to Larkfield that provide easy rail links to London. Barming, East Malling and West Malling all offer direct services to Victoria every 30 minutes at peak times, with journey times of around one hour. Trains also run every half an hour from New Hythe and Aylesford to St Pancras at peak times, with one change at Strood. From Aylesford, you can also catch an hourly train to London Bridge with a journey time of just an hour and a half, with a change at Tonbridge.

A short history of Larkfield

The settlement at Larkfield is recorded in the Domesday Book, but the village dramatically grew when the M20 was built during the 1970s. The land surrounding Larkfield also has a long and interesting history. The Carmelites founded the priory at nearby Aylesford in the 13th century. Today several of its medieval buildings are open to the public, including its cloister chapel.

One of Larkfield’s star attractions is Leybourne Lakes, a country park where you will find scenic cycling routes and a wildflower meadow, together with family-friendly amenities including a play area and wildlife walks. Leybourne Lakes also has its own watersports club. Fitness fans will find plenty on offer at Larkfield Leisure Centre, with swimming pools, a gym suite and a spin studio.
